The magazine Pop began in Germany in the late 1960s as a youth magazine. Rocky was published as an teenager-music magazine from 1977 to 1980 as a weekly youth publication. It was then integrated into Pop and continued as Pop-Rocky into the 1990s. Prior to this, the youth magazine Freizeit-Magazin had been incorporated into Rocky. Towards the end of the 1970s, Pop had also acquired the magazine Popfoto.
